Compiled by Radif Partners from the CMS landscape file of September 2026 · How the data is read

Connecticut residents with Parts A and B have 27 Medicare Advantage plans open to the public for 2027, spread over the state's 8 counties, and just 11 of the drug-covering ones charge no monthly premium. The lowest in-network cap is $4,950, for Humana USAA Honor Giveback (PPO), and the median is $7,150, above the national $6,550. Hartford, Middlesex and New Haven counties each list 23 open plans, but Fairfield County, the most affluent, lists only 11 and Windham 15. PPOs lead, 17 to 10 HMOs. Turnover is the other story: Hartford County lost 12 plan IDs from 2026 and gained 6. 10 plans earn four stars or more. For Original Medicare, 10 stand-alone drug plans start at $13.30 a month, a higher floor than in most states, and 1 has no deductible.

Fairfield County: high incomes, short list

Fairfield County lists 11 open plans for 2027, 2 of them at $0 with drugs, and its lowest cap is $5,900, compared with $4,950 in Hartford County. Insurers file fewer plans there. Households with higher incomes, wherever they live in the state, should also check the income-related surcharge on Part B and Part D, called IRMAA: Medicare premiums are based on income reported two years earlier. The check below shows where a given income lands in 2026.

Does your income trigger IRMAA in 2026?

Part B premium per person

$405.80/mo

IRMAA tier2 of 5
Part D surcharge$37.50
Extra per year$2,885
Full IRMAA calculator →

A joint return above $218,000 or a single one above $109,000 triggers the first tier. The surcharge applies whatever plan you choose, including Medicare Advantage, because it rides on the Part B premium. See the IRMAA brackets.

A year of reshuffled plan numbers

The open list went from 31 plans in 2026 to 27, 4 fewer plans, but that net figure hides much larger movement. In Hartford County 12 plan IDs from 2026 are not filed for 2027 and 6 new ones appear; in New Haven County the figures are 12 and 6. Some of those changes are mergers, where members are moved into another plan by the same company, and some are true exits. Your insurer's Annual Notice of Change says which applies to you.
