Oregon's 69 open Medicare Advantage plans for 2027 are spread very unevenly, and the places that lost the most are the retirement destinations. Jackson County, around Medford, lists 5 open plans after 16 plan IDs from 2026 were not filed again; Josephine County, around Grants Pass, has 5 after losing 16. Deschutes County, with Bend, has 3. The Portland tri-county area keeps 32 plans in each county. Statewide the count fell from 80 to 69. 31 drug-covering plans charge no premium, and caps run from $4,000 to $9,850, median $7,100. Only 17 open plans rate four stars or more, a small share by national standards. Curry County has no open plan. 26 special needs plans and 8 stand-alone drug plans, with a median premium of $23.35, are listed below.
Rogue Valley and the High Desert after the cuts
For a retiree in Medford or Grants Pass, the 2027 file reads like a closing-down notice. Jackson and Josephine counties had 20 and 20 open plans in 2026 and now have 5 and 5, none of them rated four stars or more. Bend's Deschutes County has 3. People whose plan ended get a special window to choose again, and returning to Original Medicare is one of the options (42 CFR 422.62). Further south on the coast, Coos County has a single open plan and Curry has none.
Few high ratings
Of the 69 open plans, 17 reach four stars or more for 2027, and the highest is 4.5. Ratings belong to the contract, not the plan, so a newer contract may show no score at all. Kaiser Permanente Senior Advantage Value Lane (HMO-POS), from Kaiser Permanente, combines 4.5 stars with a $0 premium; check that it is sold in your county, because the higher-rated plans cluster around Portland.
